The U.S. effort to distribute tons of food and medicine to needy Venezuelans is also designed to foment regime change –– which is why many humanitarian groups want nothing to do with it.

This was really master chess move. Globalists have empty hands in Syria and all the local powers see that alliance with NATO is worthless. Well done!

US army says that if the SDF will get aid from #Russia or #Syria after its withdrawal, it would stop helping the forces. Very logical action - US abandons the Kurds for #Turkey and wonders why they seek help in other places. #Trump fell into Erdogan trap

Seems like the US wants to cut ties with SDF as they know they will accept aid as the US has done nothing to rebuild Raqqa and Hajjin which are completely destroyed.

Some of us who know Venezuela quite well (from the inside) were predicting this from the beginning. The absurd regime change operation spearheaded by the Trump White House was premised on the false idea that it would be a quick in-out. Nothing could be further from reality.

#21 - Main news thread - conflicts, terrorism, crisis from around the globe - Page 20 4108203433

There are widely conflicting reports coming out of Venezuela.

On the one hand, NUMEROUS reports of severe food shortages, people eating from garbage dumpsters, killing cats, dogs and even rats to eat, no toilet paper, no medicines, etc.   There are so many of these reports, from so many areas inside Venezuela, and from so many different people,  that I find as a fact, they are the truth.

So to me, there is, in fact, a serious humanitarian crisis in that country.

It is widely stated that the reason for the troubles in Venezuela is a corrupt Socialist government.  Based on my personal life experience, I find this to be quite likely.

There are also numerous reports that the elections there were LEGITIMATE. Monitored by outside entities, inspected, audited and found to be valid.
Thus, it seems to me the people of Venezuela HAVE the government THEY voted for!

So as an outsider, when I look at Venezuela, I see a country in turmoil on multiple levels due to the government THEY chose to elect!

Part of me says, they chose it, let them suffer from it.

Another part of me says, we have the ability to do several things to alleviate the troubles there, and if WE (the USA) don't do those helpful things, who will?  I mean, after all, the rest of the world isn't stepping up.  As usual.

Ya know, its been this way for all of my life.  A problem arises in some shit-hole country on the planet, and unless MY country does something about it, no one else lifts a finger.  It's gotten old.

I am tired of being the world's policeman.  I am far more tired of being the world's nanny; propping-up failed political systems; providing food, water, tons of money, and other aid, to people who are so fucking dumb, they freely voted for the very system of government now failing them.

So I am torn between saying "They voted for it, let them have what they voted for - we should stay out of it"   and "These people are too stupid to fix things on their own, and they need us to come in and fix it for them."

As I sit here outside New York City on a beautiful, clear Sunday morning, enjoying the bright sunshine, clear skies, and such, I think my take on it is: Let them live or die on their own.  I really don't care anymore.

Thanks you for response. I have different opinions on some points.

Mainly I think that situation in Venezuela is largerly cuased by US sanctions and restrictions. Venezuela is extremely rich country. It has world's largest oil resevers. However, they don't want to share their resources with US based corporations. So, similary as Iran in '53, US tries do overthrow legitimate government and replace it with puppet regime. Washington did it befor and will try to do it again. We all know it. Actually, Bolton said it very clearly - they are trying to stole Venezuelan oil. I'm certain that the humanitarian card is nothing else than fabricated pretext. Venezuela doesn't need US intervention, Venezuela needs lift of sanctions, return of its gold and return of its money. Venezuela hes its partners and allies and, similary as in Syria, Washington tries to change status quo by violence and economic terror.

Let's not forget zionist interests as well! Brazil's Bolsonaro is hevily pro-zionist figure, similary as Trump and his whole government. Madure, on other hand, supports Palestinian case. That's another reason why Washington wants to remove him. His partnership with Russia and China is just another reason for neocons to try to remove hiim.

And, just to put it in contrast - there is much worse situation in Yemen. There is real famine of biblical proportions. Yet, the blocade of the poorest country of region is still fully supported by Trump's government. US still fully supports totalitarian Saudi regime iin its genocidal war against Yemen. Humanitarian rhetoric in Venezuelan case is very poor masquarade.

You seem to have left out one important detail about Venezuela's oil: It was U.S. Oil Companies that discovered it. They went to the Venezuelan government and struck a deal to develop the oil reserves and bring them to market.

At some point - I haven't looked-up exactly when -- Venezuela "nationalized" the oil industry, kicked-out the US Oil companies and kept all the equipment, oil and profits for themselves.

In America, we call this a government "taking." Our government can "take" private property for public use, but under OUR laws, the government must offer "just compensation" to the owner of the property taken. TO my knowledge -- and I may be wrong -- Venezuela offered nothing.

They took the oil drilling gear, the oil rigs, the storage facilities, refining facilities and port facilities, and gave NOTHING to the U.S. corporations who spent hundreds-of-millions to develop, drill, and install infra-structure, to unleash that oil. THAT is why there are Sanctions upon Venezuela, they committed theft of U.S. corporation property.

Did they really think it would be business as usual with the US after they stole? Any belief there would be no consequences, was error.

The Sanctions upon Venezuela HAVE hurt them; and they brought it all upon themselves. No sympathy from me.

Yemen's Houthi forces kill Saudi soldiers in combat
Saudi state media say Yemen's Houthi rebels have killed at least nine Saudi soldiers in a renewed military offensive.

The attacks happened in the southern Saudi provinces of Aseer, Jazan, and Najran.

It is the worst spate of violence since a UN-brokered peace deal was signed in December

Four Indian soldiers killed in battle with Kashmir militants: Police

SRINAGAR, India: At least four soldiers died Monday (Feb 18) in a fierce gunfight with rebels in Indian-administered Kashmir just four days after a suicide bomber killed 41 paramilitaries in the troubled territory, officials said.

One soldier and one civilian were also critically wounded in the shootout as troops launched a search operation in Pulwama district where the suicide bomber struck on Thursday.

"Four soldiers were killed during the shootout and another one is injured," a senior police officer told AFP on condition of anonymity.

The official said the soldiers fired warning shots and the militants fired back, unleashing the firefight in the district 40km south of the main city of Srinagar.

The official added that the rebels were believed to have escaped.

Deals with companies as Chevron or Shell are anything but fair. This Venezuelan case goes back to first years of the last century. Even back then local workers were largerly unsatisfied with salaries and described foreign bosses as invaders, criticized oil corporations and banks for earning millions on Venezuelan oil and paying ridiculous wages in return.

All such deals are meant to benefit foreign corporations, not the resource owners. Under the ostnsibly legitimate terms of business agreements it's the way how tu funnel out wealth of the named country. It's agreed between foreign company and friendly government. It's the real thievery and we can't go sa far to history to see clear example: Russia during the Yeltsin's era. Russian oil/gas industry was heavily infiltrated by the pawns of the globalist corporations. It resulted in devastation and wide scale thievery of Russian resources which were thransported abroad as the country had nothing in return. The situation dramaticaly changed when Putin entered the office and started to hunt down all the thiefs and criminals who participated in attempted balkanization of the country. Of course he was immediately labeled as despotic, undemocratic leader. But who cares? Since then he managed to restore the ountry, dramatically decreased poverty rate and so on. This is clear example how it works when globalist corporations are allowed to participate in domestic industry under their own terms agreed on by the friendly, treacherous government appointed/backed by the same globalists, who are linked to the corporations.

And this is exactly what Guaido wants to do next - give venezelan oil to the foreign companies again.

As the bottom line I would like to remind that the Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA) - venezuelan state owned company - BOUGHT nubers of US (and Europe) based oil companies. Among others it's owner of 100% share in Citgo rafinery.

I think you are at the wrong website. i think you should head over to that 'other' site.
Either that or learn a bit of real history.

See, that right there, what you wrote, is what I so admire about you! We two guys are having a talk about a very serious subject. We present the facts as we know them, present our OPINIONS about those facts based on OUR lives, and the conversation moves well despite differences. This is a quality that has all but disappeared in most places; and it is this exact quality that "the other place" refuses to accept -- to the point of banning people like you and me.

FWIW, I do not know the "truth" on Venezuela, but I'm LOOKING for it. One thing's for sure: I am tired of my country always being the one to slug-it-over somewhere.

I very much enjoy being able to come here, get educated via differing viewpoints, offer my views, and not get thrown out.
