I think what he has done, he has chosen to use the 30 day martial law when the 60 day was shot down, to push a democratic and diplomatic image of himself, he's used the time to build up forces around Donbass and when it kicks of he can lay back and call for more support playing the victim card from the West and look as if he's only reacting and not instigating...

It will be interesting to see what timescale will be implemented if he does it too late and close to elections we could see Maidan erupting again, but he could use that to fan the Russian operation card...
My guess is he will see how the polls stack up over the next few weeks.

Question is how many people can take this idiot seriously still. There were so many threats about "full scale war" and so many alarms about "imminent Russian invasion" that nobody can trust him anymore. Surely he pleased Ukrainian nazis with veteran status for Banderites. But that's only small favor for hohols, mostly in the vestern part of country. They are most violent but they do not represent most of the population. And if he gonna try something on the battlefield then hohols will have their asses kicked again.

Yeah with the build up of Russian regular forces, I don't think Porky would have much of a field to plow if they start an offensive.
It may be what Porky hopes for but given what Russia has to hand, I can't see them being dragged into a war with Ukriane, but rather limited and strong strikes to set the example, there isn't much the West can do in Ukriane now, the EU isn't interested in a conflict, Brexit just around the corner I couldn't see anything outside of political or logistical support at best coming from the west/FUKUS...
That's a gamble I'd be surprised to see Porky take, it may be that the status quo prevents a all out offensive.
