GERMAN Chancellor Angela Merkel could lose her powerful seat in the heart of Europe as soon as next week amid clashes within her coalition Government over EU migration policies, claimed German MP Kai Whittaker.
Speaking on BBC World at One, the German politician claimed clashes between Angela Merkel and German interior minister Horst Seehofer could result in a "new political situation" in Germany by the end of next week.
The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) politician said it was still unclear in Berlin what the essence of the disagreement between the Chancellor and Mr Seehofer was and that other members of the coalition had been left "in the blue".
Mr Whittaker said: “We are in a serious situation because the question of the migration crisis evolved into a power question.
“The question is who is leading the Government? Is it Angela Merkel or is it Horst Seehofer?

I like it how so far there's no riots on the tournament, if it stays like this it will be first world cup after USA94 without it including UEFA tournaments.
Yesterday's fluke with the taxi driver is another thing, you can't stop terrorism or whatever it was but you can fight riot crowd, its very easy actually.

Aye, it would be good to prove the naysayers wrong. The UK media, at least, has been hyping this tournament as a hooligan fest with the Russians being by far the worst of them. Even an England player gave a story which the media hooked onto about how he told his family not to go see him play in the World Cup. He said he is almost certain of the violence and abuse that will take place simply because the tournament is being held in Russia.

One day last week, a colleague and I made a mistake. On our way to a press conference, we misunderstood an announcement and got off the train from St Petersburg to Repino, where the England squad are based, one stop early and in the middle of nowhere.
The next train was not due for another hour. We tried to call a taxi and failed. We tried to find a bus stop and failed. Soon, there was only about half an hour left before the conference started.
So my colleague suggested we hitchhiked. I’ve never hitchhiked anywhere in my life, but I wanted to get to the press conference. It was worth a try. I stood on one side of the busy dual carriageway and stuck my thumb out. My friend stood on the other.
After 60 seconds, a white van stopped. The driver was a young man. He didn’t speak any English. We didn’t speak any Russian. We told him where we were going. He beckoned us to get inside.
He moved some of his belongings off the front seat so that we could both squeeze in and took us all the way to Repino. When we got there, he did a U-turn so he could drop us off on the right side of the road and we didn’t have to brave the speeding traffic. It added another few miles to his journey. We shook his hand and offered our thanks. And then he was gone.
