Macron pushes to PUNISH EU nations with FINES if they refuse migrants
He said: “I am for myself in favour of mechanisms that indeed take this into account.
“You can't have countries that massively benefit from the solidarity of the European Union and that massively voice their national selfishness when it comes to migrant issues.”
It is believed his “selfishness” reference is a direct attack on Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, nations which have joined forces and blocked Germamy’s proposal to ship immigrants back to countries they originally registered for asylum in.
It could also be aimed at Italy which, under its new government, refused to let non-government organisation (NGO) boats rescuing migrants from docking in the country.
