I think Israel hopes for Lebanese response. Eventually they may blow up some Israeli military unit, in blatant false flag operation, and call it Hezbollah terror attack. Netanyahu is in huge troubles and, as Brasco wrote bellow, the war could be good distraction from his criminal affairs.
